Biographical book cover
FOCUS ON PORTRAITURE
For my Illustration class final, I illustrated and designed a book cover illustration for a mock biographical book of a famous person featuring a portrait in the style of our choice of a famous illustrator. I decided my focus in both subject and style would be illustrator J.C. Leyendecker.

Thumbnail Stage
After choosing my biographical subject and illustrator, I sketched out 25 thumbnails of potential ideas for the front and back covers. 3 out of the 25 thumbnails were then chosen to go on to the comp stage.

COMP STAGE
Once 3 thumbnails are chosen, they were sketched out in full color and size digitally using Clip Studio Paint. For this illustration, we were also instructed to include text for the mock biographical book, so it had to be considered in the composition.
After review, 1 sketch was chosen to go to the final stage and final notes about composition and design were made.
FINAL IMAGE
The last stage was the final illustrated book cover with the included text of the front cover, back cover, spine, and front and back slips. I included an alternative version with no text which would be sent to the typographer if this were being published. Both the illustration and text design was done in Clip Studio Paint.
